U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 19-2627
U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas - Little Rock
[PUBLISHED] [Kobes, Author, with Smith, Chief Judge, and Benton, Circuit
Judges]
Criminal case - Criminal law. The evidence was sufficient to support
defendant's convictions for extortion and attempted extortion, and receipt
of a firearm with intent to commit a felony; when the district court judge
received an unsolicited, case-related message from a family member the
court acted properly by informing the parties and giving them a chance to
object; the district court judge did not err by not sua sponte recusing
from the sentencing.
