U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 21-3216
U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota
[PUBLISHED] [Kobes, Author, with Erickson and Stras, Circuit Judges]
Criminal case - Criminal law and Sentencing. There was enough evidence for
a reasonable factfinder to conclude that defendant intended to assault the
victim; the jury had significant evidence that defendant was not acting in
self-defense; sentencing defendant to consecutive terms for both assault
with a deadly weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury did
not violate the Double Jeopardy Clause as the offenses have distinct
elements; defendant's sentence was not substantively unreasonable.
