Criminal case - criminal law. When a defendant consents, a magistrate judge may preside over an allocution and plea in a felony, at least so long as the district court exercised de novo review of the magistrate judge's decision; drug quantity calculation was not clearly erroneous; sentence was less than the statutory maximum for a conviction for an indeterminate drug quantity and did not violate Apprendi.
