U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 02-1895
Western District of Arkansas
Civil case - civil rights. Fired police officer did not have a
protected property interest in continued employment as he
was an employee at will; while he had a protected liberty
interest in his good name and reputation, the district court
did not err in granting the City summary judgment on this
claim as the fired officer could not show the defendants
had made any untrue or stigmatizing public statements;
claim by officer's wife that police presence at the
nightclub where she performed her exotic dancing chilled
her First Amendment rights must fail because she could
not establish injury in fact or causation.
