U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 03-1612
Hvass
District of Minnesota
Prisoner case - habeas. Minnesota courts did not unreasonably apply
clearly established federal law in denying Nelson's claim that his counsel
was ineffective, as the record showed Nelson was fully advised about his
sentencing exposure and elected to waive his right to a jury trial knowing
his sentence could exceed the presumptive state guidelines range.
