Criminal case - criminal law. Impoundment of defendant's vehicle did not violate the Fourth Amendment because the police did have probable cause to seize the vehicle and an automobile may be seized without a warrant under the automobile exception to the warrant requirement; once the vehicle was impounded, the police were justified in searching the vehicle without a warrant under the police department's standard inventory policy.
