U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 05-3417
Southern District of Iowa
[PUBLISHED] [Gruender, Author, with Wollman and Arnold, Circuit Judges]
Criminal case - criminal law. Evidence was sufficient to support
convictions for making a false statement under 18 U.S.C. Sec. 1001 and
for converting property mortgaged or pledged to a farm credit agency in
violation of 18 U.S.C. Sec .658; plain error claims with respect to
evidentiary rulings and instructions rejected; claims of ineffective
assistance of counsel had been developed by the trial court, and the
claims would be reviewed on appeal; none of the claims of ineffective
assistance had merit, and the district court did not err in rejecting
them.
