   in denying a pretrial ex parte request for authorization to pay defendant's
   voice comparison expert more than the maximum allowed by statute as
   defendant failed to show the analysis was necessary for his defense;
   challenges to evidentiary rulings rejected; Batson challenge rejected;
   evidence was sufficient to support drug convictions; district court did not
   err in imposing the statutory mandatory life sentence based on
   defendant's prior drug convictions; mandatory sentence under 28 U.S.C.
   Sec. 841(b)(1) was not subject to challenge on reasonableness grounds.
