U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 12-2572
U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas - Little Rock
[PUBLISHED] [Murphy, Author, with Loken and Colloton, Circuit Judges]
Civil case - Employment discrimination. A legally sufficient basis
existed for a reasonable jury to determine that plaintiff had made a
showing that she had been discriminated against on the basis of her
gender, and the district court did not err in finding defendant was not
entitled to judgment as a matter of law on the claim; district court did not
err in denying defendant's motion for a remittitur as the evidence was
sufficient to support the jury's award of $100,000 for mental anguish, and
the award was not monstrous, shocking or grossly excessive.
