U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 17-3385
U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa - Des Moines
[PUBLISHED] [Stras, Author, with Loken and Grasz, Circuit Judges]
Prisoner case - Prisoner civil rights. In a Section 1983 action by an Iowa
state prisoner claiming prison officials violated his Eighth and
Fourteenth Amendment rights when they had him civilly committed and
forcibly medicated, his wrongful commitment claim is not cognizable under
Heck v. Humphrey, 512 U.S. 477 (1994); prisoner's forced-medication claim
lacks evidentiary support, and the district court did not err in granting
summary judgment for the defendants.
