U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 18-2066
U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa - Cedar Rapids
[PUBLISHED] [Erickson, Author, with Benton and Beam, Circuit Judges]
Criminal case - Criminal law and sentencing. The district court did not
abuse its discretion in finding defendant violated the provisions of his
supervised release by missing a meeting that was part of his sex-offender
treatment and by having intentional contact with a minor; defendant
demonstrated a pattern of untruthfulness with his probation officer, and
the court did not abuse its discretion in ordering periodic polygraph
testing; further, the court found defendant had used a computer and shared
masochistic images on Limewire, and the restrictions on his access to
Internet-connected devices did not involve a greater deprivation of
liberty than was reasonably necessary to advance deterrence and protect
the public.
